Music & The Internet will examining the legitimate ways both musicians and music related businesses are using the internet to promote themselves and their music/copyrights, exploring the opportunities that now exist for independent artists such as; webcasts (radio/video), digital downloads, ringtones, online retail and viral marketing. Does the playing field for independents become fairer with these advances in technology and the subsequent increase in the potential for self – exploitation?

Our panel of experts will explore the concept of Music Vs The Internet and the landmark effects this is having on the exploitation of Artists’ musical works up against the industry’s push and scramble to stay abreast and control it!

The first of its kind for TINA this exciting panel will no doubt raise passionate opinions and often diabolically opposed ideas. Should artists be buying advertising to guarantee editorial? Is it in “the pitch” or more so about who you know or what you’ve got to offer? In the critiquing of performance and product, is it hard to remain subjective once you know the subject's creator?

Ms Pinky is a combination of software made in max/msp and special (pink) time coded records that lets you use traditional turntables as an interface for digital stuff, audio, video or program parameters. It's the same concept as Final Scratch only really cheap and with heaps more possibilities. Div (iOnic) demonstrates the software/interface and its many potentialities, and you get a chance to test it out for yourself!
